Information

The Bunny Run Car Show is hosted by the Jackson Rod & Custom Car Club. In 1989, a group of guys organized the Jackson Rod & Custom car club and voted Murry Exum President, Dwayne French Vice-President, Ed Struder Secretary/Treasurer, and Tony Hopper Sgt. At Arms. Today, we still have the same officers. In 1992, we decided to put on a Rod Run. Since there are so many shows everywhere, we wanted to have the first one in the year. April was the perfect time. Easter normally falls about that time, so "The Bunny Run" was born. Our first Rod Run had 32 cars and was held in the parking lot of the Garden Plaza Hotel (now the Double Tree) in 1993. The next year, we moved to the Jackson Fairgrounds Park and contracted the Comfort Inn to be our host hotel. The Bunny Run began to grow and in 2005 we reached over 600 vehicles. These folks come from about fourteen states, plus all the vendors, and in 2006 we had four people to attend from England. Our show really makes a big economic impact in Jackson (motels, eating and shopping). We even furnish a city bus to take people from the Bunny Run to the Old Hickory Mall to shop. Our proceeds go to the Underprivileged Children's Christmas Shopping Spree. The Bunny Run is not a Car show, it is a Rod Run and the difference is: A car show has a lot of classes with three trophies per class and each car has to be judged. A Rod Run is a family gathering of friends who like to show off their car, catch up on gossip and find out about children and grandchildren. We also have entertainment, games, and food for all registered participants. All-in-all, it is like a family reunion, except everyone wants to come to a Rod Run. We learned very quickly that we could NOT have a quality show without our wives. It takes all of us working as a team to make this work. Our show is covered by three magazines, NSRA Street Scene, American Street Rodder, and Cruzin' South. We bring a lot to the city of Jackson and appreciate the help from our local folks, especially our sponsors, DuPont ColorMatch and Advance Auto Parts. Homer Jennings, with American Street Rodder magazine in Gadsden, Al., told us that out of all the shows our size (he attends one nearly every weekend), our Rod Run had the best quality cars, trucks, and custom rides of any of these shows. This is a great compliment. Come see for yourself next April 11, 12, and 13, 2008.
